The major party presidential tickets’ margin of victory in the City Houston and Unincorporated Harris County determined the outcome in Harris County. The DEMs won Houston by a margin of 24%. In comparison, the REP only won unincorporated Harris County be 5.5%.
The Democratic Presidential ticket received the majority of the vote in Commissioner Precinct 1 and 4. The Republican Presidential ticket received the majority of the vote in Commissioner Precinct 2 and 3.
The Democratic Presidential ticket received the majority of the vote in 9 of the City of Houston Single-member Council Districts; in historically Black districts B and D, the DEMOCRATIC ticket received 81% of the vote. The Republican Presidential ticket received the majority of the vote in 2 districts, E and G.
The Democratic Presidential ticket received the majority of the vote in four out of the five State Representative Districts held by Hispanic Democrats. The districts accounted for only 31% of the Spanish-surname voters in the county.
The voter turnout in Harris County was highest in districts represented by white State Representatives and lowest in districts represented by minorities.
