What caused the Republican electoral downfall in the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2018 Countywide contests in #HarrisCountyTX? The answer is not that difficult to find. But for whatever reason, the success that countywide Democratic party affiliated candidates have shown in the last decade in three presidential elections and one midterm seems to perplex people near and far. Simply, its the demographics.

In 2000, non-Hispanic Whites comprised 69% of #CitizenVotingAgePopulation (CVAP) OUTSIDE the #CityOfHouston. By 2010, the White CVAP was down to 51%. Now, Whites’ share of the CVAP outside of Houston is 47%‬ when you total the population estimates for the four major population groups; if you include the mixed race, Native American and miscellaneous groups, the White CVAP is 46%.

In other words, Latinos, African Americans and Asians now makeup the majority of the CVAP in Harris County, OUTSIDE and INSIDE the City of Houston.

The decrease of the White CVAP and minorities’ increasing share of the CVAP is now reflected on the Voter Roll. For this reason, if minorities are motivated to vote and voting trends hold, it is highly unlikely that the electoral clock in the third largest county in the nation will be turning back. #Information_political_parties_and_stakeholders_need_to_understand #Its_the_demographics #2020election #VotingIntel
